Alter ego
Alter ego is a public art experiment. Our objective is to get members of the general public to produce art for an exhibition- proving that anyone can do it, regardless of their background/skill. All art produced was based on the theme of alter ego. you can view the pieces on this blog : http://www.alteregodraw.com/ . This provided the artists with a forum to open discussion about the work and their experiences with alter ego. the exhibition was held in Brixton market from the 26th of May and lasted for one week, here are some photos taken from the event.
penguin Book prize
This is my finished cover illustration for the penguin book prize competition (adult category). The brief was to design a cover for the book Perfume by Patrick Suskind, the story of a murderer who has an extraordinary sense of smell. The image is based on research of the olfactory system which is the part of the brain that deals with odour, it helps to distinguish one smell from another, can provoke nostalgia and even emotional trauma.

Odds and ends of things
These are self portraits done during my self initiated project on isolation. The main idea behind this project was to see first hand effects of isolation, I did this by locking myself in a room for 50 hours with nothing but rationed food, a sleeping bag, a toilet and a note pad to find out Joseph Boyce style what effect this would have on myself and my work. these three self portraits are a small selection of the final images that were produced.
Below are some images developed in what I would call a rather unstable phase in my approach to drawing. the aim was to pack too much information into the image so that initially the eye doesn't settle and the information is difficult to decode.

a few observational drawings from my trip to the Pitt Rivers museum, Oxford. A tribesman's scull, a Maurie painting and a face from an advert for Jamaican rum in the underground station.
